May Lindstrom: The Honey Mud

The Honey Mud by May Lindstrom ($90) is the ultimate cocoa honey treat for a blissful Sunday ritual and daily morning cleanse. This has one of the yummiest scents of any product I have ever used. It is expensive, but I did a lot of research before my purchase and many users suggested that this product lasted at least 6 months. I have already been using this same product for 2 months and I think it will last me much longer. I do not use as a mask more than once a week as I like to rotate my other clay masks in. One of my favorite masks is actually just Rhassoul clay mixed with water or vinegar/apple cider vinegar!

Each hand-crafted treat is made in small batches with these fine ingredients:

  • Raw Honey with Bee Pollen and Propolis (from local California wildflowers, unsprayed and unfertilized): Raw honey is a wonderful natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It soothes the skin while healing any redness caused by inflammation.
  • White Halloysite Clay: This clay is highly absorbent to remove debris from the skin and pores.
  • Witch Hazel (certified organic): One of the best natural acne treatments and anti-inflammatory ingredients. I use witch hazel as my toner (after cleansing and before treatment) and I LOVE it!
  • Colloidal Silver: Anti-inflammatory and healing.

For use as a cleanser: I use a pea sized amount and evenly distribute (the best you can) over damp skin. The texture turns from tacky and thick to thin and milky when emulsified with water. I remove the cleanser with a warm, damp cloth. My skin immediately feels refreshed after using this as a cleanser. Many natural beauty bloggers suggest to use this as a cleanser in the morning.

For use as a mask:  I use just about the size of quarter to cover my entire face while focusing on the extra dry or congested areas. I like to keep this mask on for as long as possible but always at least 30 minutes. I love to either remove in the shower or with a warm, damp cloth. This mask is very gentle yet still hydrates my skin while refining my pores. I truly believe it helps with evening out my skin tone because of it’s anti-inflammatory properties.
